Hegseth Denies CNN Report That US Missile Stockpiles Are Dangerously Low

CNN, citing anonymous sources and a CSIS assessment, reported that the US used nearly 80% of its THAAD interceptors, about half of its Patriot missiles and 30% of its Tomahawk cruise missiles. The report said commanders were concerned that supplies were dangerously low and could take years to replace. Hegseth called the report false, insisting that US stockpiles remain sufficient and are being strengthened. Pentagon officials also say the military has the munitions required for any operation ordered by the president. The dispute centres on how quickly expensive missile interceptors can be replaced, especially as Iran has deployed large numbers of cheaper drones. Officials maintain that the US retains other missile options, including Navy SM-3 and SM-6 systems.
