FG Bans Three-Month Pre-Retirement Leave for Civil Servants
Ministries, Departments and Agencies have been told to cancel the custom of granting terminal leave three months before retirement. The Head of the Civil Service has emphasized that the Public Service Rules do not allow for automatic leave in the notice period. Officers due to retire must serve at their duty posts throughout the mandatory three months. They are still expected to handle their official duties while preparing pension forms and attending pre-retirement seminars. Any MDA treating the notice period as leave must reverse that practice. Agency heads have been directed to ensure strict compliance with this guideline.
