Oyo Police Rescue 5-Year-Old Girl After Nine-Day Abduction, Arrest Two Suspects
Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have rescued a five-year-old girl abducted on July 3 from her home in Iyana Offa, Ibadan. After a nine-day intelligence-led operation, officers traced the suspects to a hideout in Mojoyin Molade, Iwo Road, and freed the child unhurt. Two men, Adegboye Seyi Sunday (37) and Adegboye Elijah Adefemi (25), were arrested around 10:30 pm on July 11. Investigators say the duo unlawfully gained entry to the victim’s residence and demanded a ransom of ₦10 million. They had already collected ₦1 million in Gbongan, Osun State, before being apprehended. Police spokesmen explained that the Anti-Kidnapping Squad used technological and other investigative tools to track the suspects. The command is now working to recover the paid ransom and arrest remaining syndicate members. The Commissioner of Police praised the officers’ professionalism and urged residents to share any credible intelligence to help curb violent crime.
