Lawyer Demands Inquiry After Deadly Attack in Anuku Community, Nasarawa
Residents of Anuku community in Awe Local Government, Nasarawa State, were thrown into chaos after armed men attacked on April 18, killing a 37-year-old man and injuring several others. Homes were burnt and scores of families were forced to flee under fire. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria has condemned the assault on unarmed villagers. He linked the violence to a dispute over mining by IVAGOM Integrated Solutions Ltd, which locals say began operations on community farmlands without consent or compensation. The lawyer urged security agencies to restore order, open blocked roads and ensure the safe return of displaced residents. He also called for an independent probe into the attack and a review of mining activities in the area for compliance with existing laws.
