Youth Group Demands Security Probe of Mathias Ezeaku Over Anti-Religious Comments
Concerned Uzo-Uwani Youths have called on security agencies to monitor politicians making inflammatory religious remarks ahead of the 2027 elections. Leader Chukwuma Obinna said House of Representatives aspirant Mathias Ezeaku criticised Christian leaders and burned religious items in viral videos. He warned that such rhetoric threatened peaceful coexistence in Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency. Obinna urged political parties to screen candidates thoroughly and focus on issue-based campaigns. He said only aspirants with records of tolerance should represent a community of Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers. Ezeaku dismissed the allegations as political propaganda. He claimed his comments defended traditional culture against attacks on shrines and symbols by some Christian groups.
