Tesla Recalls Over 218,000 Vehicles Over Rearview Camera Delay
Tesla is recalling 218,868 Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X vehicles due to delayed rearview camera images when shifting into reverse. The recall affects cars built between 2017 and 2023 with hardware version 3, which Tesla stopped producing in January 2024. According to the safety agency, the image delay could reduce visibility and raise collision risk. There have been no reported crashes, injuries or fatalities linked to this issue, though Tesla has logged 27 warranty claims and two field reports. The company will roll out a free over-the-air update from software version 2026.8.6 to 2026.8.6.1. More than 99.9% of affected vehicles have already installed the remedy firmware. This recall follows the recent closure of a separate investigation into a remote-control feature on other Tesla models.
