Inside the Arrest of 11 Suspects in Arise TV Reporter’s Murder Case
The trial of eleven accused in the killing of Arise TV correspondent Somtochukwu Maduagwu resumed at the FCT High Court, Abuja. ASP Maxwell Eje told the court the probe began after one suspect, Shamsu Hassan, was arrested in Zaria. Hassan confessed and led police to co-suspect Sani Surajo, who was taken from a hospital in Gosa. Both provided information that helped trace the remaining members of the gang. Counsel for some defendants sought a brief adjournment for a medical appointment, and Justice Mohammed Idris set the next hearing for April 23. The suspects face charges of conspiracy, armed robbery and murder related to the September 29 incident at Unique Apartments, Katampe, where Maduagwu and a security guard lost their lives. Earlier witnesses described masked men invading the apartment but could not identify any of the defendants.
