Nottingham Forest Owner Sues Crystal Palace Over Fans' Defamation Banner
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has filed a defamation claim against Crystal Palace over a banner displayed by Palace supporters during their Premier League match last August. The banner referred to allegations including blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking and corruption, all of which Marinakis has denied. The case may test whether Crystal Palace can be held responsible for a message created by supporters. Palace were previously charged by the FA following the match, although the banner was not specifically named in that disciplinary case. The dispute adds to growing tension between both clubs after Forest took Palace's Europa League place following UEFA's multi-club ownership ruling. Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is not a party to the lawsuit but remains part of the Forest squad as the rivalry intensifies.
