Nigerian Army Neutralises Two Bandits, Seizes AK-47 in Donga Forest Raid
Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army under Operation Whirl Stroke carried out a precision raid on 24 May in the Akate District of Donga LGA, Taraba State. Acting on credible intelligence of gunshots near the “Welcome to Donga” signpost, they swiftly moved into the forest. A firefight ensued when soldiers encountered two suspected armed bandits. Both assailants were neutralised in the exchange. Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two magazines, two mobile phones, and various personal effects. Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro praised the troops’ professionalism and urged them to maintain momentum under the Army Chief’s directive. He affirmed that reward and sanction policies will apply and reassured Taraba residents of continued operations until all threats are eliminated.
