Children’s Day: Bishop Badejo Calls for Urgent Rescue of Abducted, Vulnerable Children
In an interview in Ibadan to mark Children’s Day, the Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Most Rev. Emmanuel Badejo, urged Nigerians to move beyond celebration. He appealed for prayer, fasting, sacrifice and practical steps to protect children facing abduction, trafficking, abuse and deprivation. Badejo described the suffering of these children as a national emergency. He demanded the swift release of the pupils and teachers kidnapped in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, and called on government and citizens to strengthen security and guarantee safe spaces for learning. The bishop also asked parents, religious leaders and civil society to use their influence to advocate for justice and support victims. He warned that Nigeria’s future depends on how it treats its most vulnerable children today.
