Osun Reps Candidate Olajengbesi Demands ₦10bn From Senator Fadahunsi Over Cult Allegations

Osun Reps Candidate Olajengbesi Demands ₦10bn From Senator Fadahunsi Over Cult Allegations

Accord Party House of Representatives candidate Pelumi Olajengbesi has demanded ₦10 billion in damages from Senator Francis Fadahunsi over alleged defamatory claims linking him to cult groups and political thuggery in Osun State. In a letter dated August 12, 2026, Olajengbesi’s lawyers gave Fadahunsi 24 hours to withdraw the allegations and issue a public apology or face legal action. The disputed remarks were allegedly made during television interviews in July and August. The legal team said Fadahunsi allegedly claimed that Olajengbesi sponsored members of the Eiye and Aye groups, including a late political figure known as Rogba, to intimidate people. Olajengbesi denied funding, supporting or directing any cult group or acts of violence.

Exactly, public claims need public proof; the ₦10bn demand makes a direct response even more important.

A huge damages figure sounds serious, but the central issue should still be whether the alleged statements were actually made and can be substantiated.

Both parties should put clear, verifiable facts before the public and allow the legal process to address any defamatory claims.
