Governance Group Insists Justice Over Politics in Offa Robbery Probe
The Kwara Governance Reform Group has urged that legal process takes priority over political interests in the reopened investigation of the 2018 Offa robbery, which left 33 people dead. Highlighting fresh claims that former Senate President Bukola Saraki and ex-Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed are implicated, the group rejected attempts to paint the inquiry as partisan persecution. It noted a 2024 petition by the Offa Descendants’ Union and court decisions in 2026 that upheld death sentences for five convicted suspects. The group warned against shielding any individual named in the case and encouraged those implicated to clear their names through due process. It also cautioned political actors against undermining public trust in the justice system with partisan narratives.
