Why I Believe Ukraine Should Propose a New Union with Russia

I believe the Soviet Union had no valid reason to dissolve. Many historians still question that breakup. If I led Ukraine, I would negotiate a new union with Russia under terms that protect our interests. This arrangement could mirror today’s common market structure in Europe. Joining a wider union need not cost Ukraine anything. Just like France, Italy, and Germany gained benefits from the EU without sacrificing core interests, Ukraine could do the same.

It's hard to ignore how different Ukraine's current political landscape is from the Soviet era, making a similar union unlikely to echo past structures.

I hear you on political changes, but a fresh union could be built on new principles, not old templates.

Ukraine could start by drafting clear terms on trade and security guarantees before proposing any formal union agreement.
