Adeleke Alleges Intimidation as Osun SSG Is Released in Vote-Buying Probe
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke says residents will not be intimidated ahead of the August 15 governorship election, following the police detention of Secretary to the State Government Teslim Igbalaye over alleged vote-buying. Police said Igbalaye and five others were arrested after a raid on his Osogbo residence, where officers allegedly recovered PVCs, cash and voters’ registers. The SSG has since been released, but the police say investigations are continuing. The APC campaign council has called for Igbalaye’s removal, alleging that a wanted murder suspect was among those arrested. The party’s claims have not been independently established in the report. Meanwhile, Speaker Adewale Egbedun alleges that police are planning to implicate and arrest him before the election.
