15 Killed in Fresh Attacks on Benue’s Ugboju Communities
At least 15 people have been killed in attacks on Ugboju communities in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State. Fourteen bodies were recovered in Efeyi-Ugboju after gunmen suspected to be herders struck from about 5am on Tuesday, while another person was killed in Ipom-Ugboju on Monday. Residents said the attackers operated for several hours, leaving more people injured and forcing victims to seek hospital treatment. Some neighbouring residents have reportedly fled their homes over fears of further violence. Otukpo LGA chairman Maxwell Ogiri confirmed the recovery of 14 bodies in Efeyi-Ugboju. He called for stronger security measures and the enforcement of Benue State’s anti-open grazing law.
