Gateway Air Launches New Multi-City Routes to Boost Regional Connectivity

Gateway Air Launches New Multi-City Routes to Boost Regional Connectivity

Gateway Air, owned by the Ogun State government, will begin scheduled flights on Monday, April 13, 2026. The new routes link Iperu with Abuja and Kano, and connect Abuja with Port Harcourt, Calabar and Jos. Flights will operate four days a week—Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays—to offer reliable and time-saving travel options for both business and leisure passengers. Economy class fares start from ₦100,000 one-way. Industry experts say the expansion could drive trade, tourism and investment by reducing travel time between key commercial and emerging regional hubs. Travelers are advised to book early and follow the airline’s official channels for the latest updates on schedules and services.

I'm excited about flights from Iperu to Kano, but what factors might affect ticket affordability and demand on these new routes?

Totally! Things like fuel price, seat availability, and even seasonality shape how affordable tickets get.

True, but local fuel costs, airport fees, and competition from road transport really shape ticket prices and demand.

It's notable that flights operate only four days a week, which could limit flexibility for business travellers seeking mid- to end-week connections.

Funding new flights might not be the best move right now, considering maintenance expenses and ongoing road infrastructure challenges in Ogun State.

Local businesses along these routes could coordinate shuttle services to airports on non-flight days, maximising regional connectivity benefits.
