ADC Rejects Claims of Alignment with Atiku, Obi or Amaechi Ahead of 2027

The African Democratic Congress has denied suggestions that it is acting as a vehicle for specific politicians ahead of the 2027 presidential election. National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said the party remains open to all aspirants. He dismissed claims of alignment with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi. He confirmed that zoning discussions are ongoing but refused to share details prematurely. He stressed that the ADC has no preferred candidate at this stage. Abdullahi appealed for greater unity among opposition forces, warning that internal divisions could strengthen the ruling party and undermine democratic competition.

I don't think timing alone drove that move. They might just be avoiding premature commitments or public pressure.

It's interesting that ADC made such a public statement now, given the usual early politicking we see in Nigerian parties.

Voters should watch ADC's next policy proposals closely to see if their openness to all aspirants truly translates into concrete plans.
