Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Heroics Deny Arsenal and Crown Man City WSL Champions

Chiamaka Nnadozie’s Heroics Deny Arsenal and Crown Man City WSL Champions — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Arsenal arrived at Brighton needing a win to keep their Women’s Super League title hopes alive but were held to a 1-1 draw. After falling behind through a deflected strike, the Gunners rallied in the second half and levelled from a Frida Maanum effort. Despite several late chances, they could not find the winner. Brighton’s Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie produced a string of fine saves — including a fingertip stop from Caitlin Foord and a low dive to deny Alessia Russo — to ensure the draw. Her performance confirmed Manchester City as WSL champions for the first time since 2016.

It's striking that a single draw can snatch the title away, but isn't a whole season's effort more telling?

I'm not convinced a draw alone denies Arsenal the title; they still levelled and had plenty of second-half possession.

Arsenal might focus on stronger defensive organisation and finishing tactics to ensure they turn draws into wins next season.
