Lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor Urges Government to Tackle Real Threats, Not Blame IPOB
Nigerian human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has urged the federal government to focus its resources on combating extremist violence rather than scapegoating IPOB. In a recent statement titled “Hypocrisy at Its Peak: The Dangerous Diversion from Nigeria’s Real Enemies,” he condemned the branding of IPOB as a financing source for terrorism. He argued that this misdirection obscures the ongoing atrocities carried out by jihadist groups, herdsmen militias, Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters. Ejiofor warned that unless the government breaks the pattern of selective outrage and confronts these brutal campaigns of violence head-on, any proposed solutions will remain mere illusions. He insisted that only through transparency, accountability and an unflinching pursuit of truth can Nigeria regain the path to lasting peace and stability.
