1 / 4

CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu recently assumed duty as the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force and paid a courtesy visit to his predecessor, retired DIG Frank Mba, at Law Tribes Attorneys. During the meeting, Iniedu quoted George Santayana: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” and thanked Mba for the opportunity to learn from his experience. Frank Mba joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992, rose to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General by 2023, and served in key roles including Force PRO and UN peacekeeping. He holds law degrees from UNILAG and Dundee, a PhD from UI, and executive training from Harvard, Oxford, and the FBI National Academy.

It's interesting that Iniedu opened with a Santayana quote, but I wonder if catchy phrases really sway public trust in police reforms.

I'm not convinced a photo op at a law firm means much unless we see actual policy changes following that courtesy call.

Tracking Iniedu's next press statements or community outreach events could reveal whether his tenure brings real change to police communication.
