NPFL Clubs Risk Losing Licences Over Non-Functional Websites, Owumi Warns
Nigeria Premier Football League Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi has warned that clubs without functional official websites risk being denied or losing their club licences. Speaking at a media and marketing workshop in Enugu, Owumi said poor access to credible club information is limiting the league’s ability to attract sponsors. He said the NPFL and its 20 clubs could be losing millions of naira in potential commercial revenue because of weak digital platforms and inconsistent media operations. Owumi urged club administrators to properly fund and train media departments. He said professional clubs need dedicated personnel for media management, photography, graphics, news, social media, content creation and video production rather than placing all responsibilities on one person.
