Anambra’s ANAM Initiative Wins UN ECOSOC Status, Enters Global Stage
The All Nations Arise and Manifest Initiative for the Less Privileged (ANAM Initiative) has secured Special Consultative Status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council. This milestone gives the Anambra-based NGO official access to UN meetings, policy recommendations and partnerships with global development bodies. Founded in Umuenwelum Anam five years ago, the organisation underwent a rigorous application process starting in 2021. The approval followed detailed assessments by the UN Committee on NGOs and marks a defining moment for its humanitarian efforts. The founder, Unoma Tessy Aniesi, dedicated the achievement to volunteers, donors and supporters. With this recognition, ANAM Initiative is poised to amplify its impact and showcase locally driven solutions on the international stage.
