Anambra’s ANAM Initiative Wins UN ECOSOC Status, Enters Global Stage

Anambra’s ANAM Initiative Wins UN ECOSOC Status, Enters Global Stage — 1 of 2
1 / 2

The All Nations Arise and Manifest Initiative for the Less Privileged (ANAM Initiative) has secured Special Consultative Status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council. This milestone gives the Anambra-based NGO official access to UN meetings, policy recommendations and partnerships with global development bodies. Founded in Umuenwelum Anam five years ago, the organisation underwent a rigorous application process starting in 2021. The approval followed detailed assessments by the UN Committee on NGOs and marks a defining moment for its humanitarian efforts. The founder, Unoma Tessy Aniesi, dedicated the achievement to volunteers, donors and supporters. With this recognition, ANAM Initiative is poised to amplify its impact and showcase locally driven solutions on the international stage.

How might ANAM Initiative leverage its new UN status to benefit local communities in Anambra and beyond?

Absolutely, using that UN recognition to forge partnerships and channel funding directly into Anambra's grassroots projects makes practical sense.

Securing special consultative status is impressive, but real impact will depend on follow-through and how well they engage with policy discussions.

Absolutely! This is a solid victory, and I can't wait to see them dive into policy talks for real change.

I hope this isn't just a title boost; involvement in UN meetings can be time-consuming and might distract from local grassroots efforts.

To maximize benefits, ANAM Initiative should set clear goals before UN sessions and build partnerships with other NGOs working on social development.
