NAPTIP Cracks Down on Human Trafficking Ring Disguised as Marketing Firm in Nasarawa
Nigeria’s anti-trafficking agency uncovered a human trafficking syndicate in Keffi and Karu Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State. A joint operation on May 7 by the Investigation Department and the Intelligence and International Cooperation Unit led to the raid. Fifteen victims were rescued, including four women and eleven men. Among the male victims, three were Nigerian and the rest were foreign nationals. Investigators say the traffickers posed as an online marketing company to recruit and exploit unsuspecting individuals. NAPTIP warns that this deceptive recruitment method is a growing security and humanitarian threat. The agency says investigations are ongoing to dismantle the broader network and apprehend all collaborators.
