Equatorial Guinea Cabinet Resigns After Falling Short of 90% of Targets
Equatorial Guinea’s federal executive council stepped down this week after achieving barely 10% of its set goals, the country’s Vice-President and president’s son announced on social media. According to the statement, substantial resources were provided to address citizens’ needs but the cabinet’s execution was deemed “clearly insufficient” against expectations. President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, Africa’s longest-serving leader, had appointed this administration in 2024 to drive economic reforms and diversify the oil-dependent economy. A new cabinet selection is expected soon as the ruling party works to revive policy implementation, boost agricultural output and reduce reliance on imported goods.
