FedPoly Oko Bans Lecturers from Selling Textbooks Directly to Students

Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, has announced a strict ban on lecturers selling textbooks directly to students. Any academic caught bypassing the official bookshop will face disciplinary action. She abolished the practice of appointing course representatives for textbook distribution and clarified that only department Class Reps are recognized. Students found extorting peers or posing as reps will also face sanctions. During a meeting with the Students Union Government president, Giant Comrade Anuluonye Ifechukwu Joseph, the rector pledged to personally supervise upgrades to student restrooms and ensure stable electricity in affected departments at the permanent site. Dr. Awuzie further promised faster result uploads and smoother clearance processes. The Dean of Student Affairs praised her leadership, and students honored her with a gold award for her commitment to the institution’s growth.

This ban on lecturers selling textbooks directly seems heavy-handed. Could it slow down students getting materials on time or just trade monopoly for bureaucracy?
