Snapchat’s Now Playing Lets Friends See What You’re Listening To

Snapchat has introduced Now Playing on Snap Map, a feature that lets users share the song they are listening to in real time. By linking a Spotify account, users can also see what eligible friends are currently playing. The update also works with Spotlight videos. If you hear a song in a video, you can save it to Spotify or open its track page without searching for the title manually. Privacy controls let users choose who can view their listening status. Only the song playing at that moment is shown, not listening history or previously played tracks. Sharing pauses after 24 hours of Snapchat inactivity, and users can pause it manually for three hours, 24 hours, or indefinitely. Would you share your current music with friends, or keep your playlist private?

Would you link Spotify for this, or keep your listening private from friends?

I'd keep it private; music taste is personal, and sharing should stay optional.

Real-time music sharing could make Snap Map feel more social, but it also adds another layer of visibility.

It sounds useful for discovering songs, though not everyone wants friends tracking every listening mood.

Check the eligible-friends and sharing settings before linking Spotify, especially if your music choices are personal.
