Man and Part-Time DJ Sentenced to Death for Killing Mother in Delta State

A Delta State High Court in Kwale has sentenced 44-year-old Lucky Edozien and his 33-year-old accomplice, Amaechi Enuebuka, to death by hanging for the July 2023 murder of Edozien’s 70-year-old mother, Mrs. Janeth Odinuwe. According to a statement from the Delta State Ministry of Justice, Edozien believed a ring worn by his mother was the cause of his misfortune. He promised Enuebuka musical instruments in exchange for help. On the day of the crime, Enuebuka distracted the victim’s sister nearby while Edozien entered the mother’s room and strangled her. Justice D.C. Maidoh found both men guilty under Section 319 of the Delta State Criminal Code Law, relying on the Doctrine of Last Seen and police investigative testimonies to secure the conviction.
