Five ECWA Worshippers Die in Captivity After Kwara Church Kidnapping
On March 22, gunmen stormed ECWA Church in Omugo, Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State. They abducted eight worshippers during a Sunday service and took them into a nearby forest. The church minister, Rev. Timothy Omole, later confirmed that five of the captives—including his wife, Mrs Rachael Oluwaremilekun Omole—have died in captivity. The news came from Mr Sunday Bakare, one of the eight who escaped after more than a month with the kidnappers. Families had raised funds and provided supplies after kidnappers initially demanded ₦1 billion, later reduced to ₦150 million. Despite handing over about ₦20 million, the hostages were not released. Three worshippers remain in captivity.
