Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has arrived in Doha to officially begin his tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar. He was welcomed at Hamad International Airport by Qatar’s Protocol Director, Amb. Ibrahim Abdullah Fakhro, alongside a delegation of 13 resident African ambassadors from countries including Guinea, Algeria, Burundi and Morocco. On arrival, Yakubu held brief discussions with envoys from Mali, Senegal and Tanzania before meeting staff of the Nigerian Embassy in Doha. With decades of experience in academia, public administration and governance, he is expected to strengthen Nigeria–Qatar ties in energy, trade, investment and diaspora engagement.
