Igbo Coalitions Label Sowore an Enemy, Vow Political Backlash

In Enugu, the United Igbo Front and Igbo Youth Assembly branded Omoyele Sowore an enemy of the Igbo. They accused him of attacking Peter Obi, Alex Otti and other Southeast leaders. They warned that his downfall is near if he continues his campaign of criticism. The groups described his actions as “political warfare” against the region’s aspirations. Market unions across Onitsha and Abakaliki pledged voter education drives to reduce his influence. Diaspora associations in the US and UK launched social media campaigns under “Enemy of Ndigbo.” Traditional rulers declared that an insult to one Igbo leader is an insult to all. They warned political parties and media houses against aligning with Sowore. Any perceived alliance against Igbo interests, they said, will face electoral consequences.

Calling him an enemy might just amplify his message rather than silencing him in the long run.

Rather than threats, community leaders could host open debates with Sowore to clarify concerns and gauge public reaction.
