Navigating Nigerian Passport Renewal in Austria: Conflicting Fees and Uncertain Appointments
Renewing a Nigerian passport abroad isn’t always as simple as booking an online slot and showing up. When I checked the official site in Austria, it listed €230 for a 10‐year passport. But a contact later told me it could be €330 plus an extra €100 if you’re not an Austrian resident, bringing the total to €430. Even after snagging an appointment date online, a disclaimer warned that availability isn’t guaranteed. Now I’m left wondering which fee is accurate and what exactly I’m locking in when I book. As Nigerians living overseas, our passports affect residence permits, travel plans, jobs and legal status. Has anyone recently renewed their Nigerian passport in Europe? What fees and procedures did you encounter? Share your experience below.
