Tragic Discovery: Five Family Members Found Dead in Abia Home
Five members of a family were found dead in their home in Umuimo, Osisioma Ngwa LGA of Abia State on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Neighbours raised the alarm after the family, last seen on Saturday, July 18, did not emerge for three days. When access was forced, the decomposing bodies of the father, mother and three children were discovered inside the locked house alongside leftover food and a generator set. The victims have been identified as Mr. Kachi Nnabugwu, his wife Chinaza, and their three children. Their bodies were taken to the morgue for autopsy and preservation. A video circulating online shows community members performing traditional rites. DSP Maureen Chinaka, Police Public Relations Officer for Abia State, confirmed that the scene has been visited, inspected and documented. Investigations are ongoing.
