Tinubu’s Brief Airport Visit Draws Criticism After Jos Massacre

President Tinubu asked Plateau’s governor to bring families of the Angwan Rukuba Palm Sunday attack victims to Yakubu Gowon Airport on Thursday. He landed, spoke for under ten minutes without promising to arrest the perpetrators, shook a few hands, and returned to his jet. The condolence ceremony was held at the airport instead of the State House or near Jos North, where the tragedy occurred. It’s hard to believe such a solemn moment was so fleeting.

Are we sure a quick airport stop can genuinely reflect his stance on justice for Angwan Rukuba?

He barely spent ten minutes on the ground and didn't even promise any arrests. That feels like mere optics rather than real accountability.

It's easy to criticise a short visit, but those ten minutes with victims' families could carry more weight than a long speech full of empty promises.

If the government sets up a transparent timeline for arrests and regular updates on investigations, it could restore some confidence after this brief appearance.
