I Paid ₦800,000 for a Mexico Visa Process, Then Received Suspected Fake Documents

I Paid ₦800,000 for a Mexico Visa Process, Then Received Suspected Fake Documents

I contacted a travel agent through TikTok while I was in China because I wanted help with a Mexican World Cup visa. He said he could arrange a match ticket, hotel reservation, supporting bank account and other requirements. He asked me to pay ₦800,000 upfront, including the visa fee, and I transferred the money after trying to verify his location. He later booked an interview appointment in Abuja. I travelled from Lagos and paid for accommodation in Wuse 2. A day before the interview, his representative brought documents containing a bank account and land certificate that were not genuinely connected to me. I challenged the agent, but he could not clearly explain the documents, ticket, hotel booking or promised account. I refused to submit the documents at first, but I eventually went to the Mexican Embassy because I had already spent money travelling to Abuja. The embassy rejected my application and documents within minutes. I later reported the matter at a police station in Ikeja, but I was told to pursue it in Imo State, where the agent reportedly lives. I am sharing this as a warning to others: please verify any travel agent carefully and do not submit false documents for a visa application. I have records of our conversations and payment.

A bundled offer covering tickets, hotel, bank support and visa requirements deserves very careful scrutiny.

Paying upfront is not automatically wrong, but the scale of promised arrangements should have prompted more verification.

Keep every payment receipt, chat and document together before deciding what step to take next.
