The Federal Government has officially handed over Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu to Aero Alliance Limited under a public-private partnership. Governor Peter Mbah hailed the concession as a game-changer for the South East, promising new economic opportunities and the launch of Enugu–Guangzhou cargo flights in a few months. Aero Alliance will finance and manage airport upgrades to meet international standards. The consortium aims to transform AIIA into one of Africa’s leading aviation, logistics, and commercial hubs while creating jobs and boosting regional trade. Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo praised President Tinubu and Governor Mbah for driving the long-stalled plan. Regulators also highlighted Enugu’s growing traffic potential and the airport’s role in unlocking the South East’s economic power.
