Nigerian Army Opens 2027 Short Service Commission Recruitment; Applications Close October 17
The Nigerian Army has opened applications for Short Service Combatant Commission Course 50/2027. The exercise is open to qualified civilians and serving military personnel seeking to serve as commissioned officers in combat and combat-support arms. Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, aged 23 to 27 by January 10, 2027, and medically, mentally and physically fit. Candidates need at least a Second Class Lower degree or Lower Credit HND obtained from 2018 onward. Civilian applicants must have an NYSC discharge certificate, while serving personnel need an NYSC exemption certificate. Applicants must meet the required height standards, have no criminal conviction, cult affiliation or tattoos, and submit documents including academic credentials, NIN, BVN, proof of origin and birth records. Applications are free and close on October 17, 2026. Candidates should use only the official Nigerian Army recruitment channel and avoid unofficial portals or anyone demanding payment. Successful applicants will receive a 15-year commission, beginning with a 10-year active-list bonding period. Conversion to a Regular Combatant Commission may be possible but is not automatic.
