Gov. Soludo Commends Court for Remanding Eight Pastors Over Alleged Fake Miracles
The Anambra State Government has stepped up its crackdown on alleged religious fraud after a High Court in Awka ordered eight pastors to be remanded for staging fake miracles with hired actors. The clerics were arraigned on charges under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, 2025, and the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud-Related Offences Act. They are accused of recruiting individuals to feign miraculous healings and misleading worshippers into making offerings under false pretences. Justice Jude Obiorah remanded the defendants in a correctional facility and adjourned their bail hearing to June 15, 2026. Prosecutors say they have gathered video confessions and electronic evidence to support the case. Anambra’s Attorney General said the trial is part of the Soludo administration’s broader efforts to protect vulnerable citizens by dismantling deceptive religious practices.
