Buba Galadima: Criticism of Obi-Kwankwaso Alliance Ignores First Republic Unity

NDC chieftain Buba Galadima has defended calls for a Peter Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket ahead of the 2027 election. He told Arise Television critics lack any real understanding of Nigeria’s political history. He cited how northern NPC leaders worked with Nnamdi Azikiwe’s NCNC before and after independence to form a united government. Galadima argued that the First Republic’s collapse was caused by the military coup of 1966, not by civilian politicians. He also criticised opponents who accuse supporters of promoting regional interests, pointing out that Peter Obi once served as Atiku Abubakar’s vice-presidential candidate.
