FG Warns Nigerians Over Fake Diplomatic Service Recruitment Scam

FG Warns Nigerians Over Fake Diplomatic Service Recruitment Scam

The Federal Government has alerted Nigerians to a fraudulent recruitment message circulating online. It warns that scammers are posing as the Diplomatic Service to defraud job seekers. In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the spokesperson dismissed the claims as entirely false. The message purports to offer consular roles abroad and asks shortlisted candidates to pay fees for a “credence note.” The ministry stressed that no recruitment into the Nigerian Foreign Service is conducted via email, WhatsApp, or unsolicited contact. Legitimate hiring is handled only by the Federal Civil Service Commission through official channels. Nigerians were urged to ignore such messages and report anyone requesting payment for diplomatic postings to the Nigeria Police Force or the Department of State Services. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and encouraged verification through official sources.
