FRSC Launches New Measures to End Gridlock on Lagos–Ibadan Expressway

FRSC Launches New Measures to End Gridlock on Lagos–Ibadan Expressway

The Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has stepped up operations to clear gridlock on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. During a strategy meeting at Sagamu, officers from Mowe, Ogere, Sagamu and Ogunmakin discussed causes of crashes and delays. They noted that route violations, speeding and illegal truck parking are major problems. To tackle these issues, the FRSC will carry out joint enforcement with other security agencies. Mobile court sittings will be introduced along the corridor for prompt prosecution. Illegally parked trucks at Ogere will be removed in a sustained operation. The Corps also plans to partner with local organisations to boost patrol capacity. Real-time traffic updates will keep drivers informed. The Sector Commander led an inspection tour and oversaw the removal of an obstruction at Mowe. Road users are reminded to obey speed limits and lane discipline.

I'm not sure they've announced concrete steps for Sagamu yet, seems a bit early to request specifics.

Meetings at Mowe, Ogere and Ogunmakin sounded thorough, but clearing gridlock requires more than strategy sessions alone.

Focusing too much on expressway patrols ignores underlying factors like poor road design and insufficient signage across that route.

Regular traffic updates via local radio and digital boards could help drivers avoid delays while FRSC tackles the congestion effectively.
