The Federal Government says fuel-subsidy removal and other reforms generated ₦15.8 trillion in savings, shared among the federal, state and local governments. It also cites major spending on wages, debt servicing, infrastructure and electricity subsidies. But many Nigerians are asking what direct relief these savings have brought. Families still face high food and transport costs, unaffordable healthcare, unreliable electricity, unemployment, insecurity and declining living standards. Economic reforms should be measured by improvements in daily life, not only by figures announced on paper. Citizens need clear, transparent accounting of how these funds are used and results they can see in public hospitals, schools, water supply, jobs, security, farming and affordable transport. What tangible benefits have ordinary Nigerians received from the subsidy savings so far?
