Senate Sets April 29 Deadline for NNPCL to Account for N210 Trillion Audit Queries
The Senate Public Accounts Committee has summoned NNPCL management to appear by April 29. They must explain the N210 trillion flagged in audit reports covering 2017 to 2023. Current Group CEO Bayo Ojulari and his predecessor Mele Kyari are required to attend. Former CFO Umar Ajia, Dr Bala Wunti and the company’s external auditors must also appear. Committee chair Sen. Aliyu Wadada said the explanations so far were unsatisfactory. He demanded detailed breakdowns of liabilities like retention, legal and audit fees. He also wants clarity on the N107 trillion spent on joint venture cash calls and funds owed by defunct banks. Sen. Abdul Ningi warned that the National Assembly will use its powers to compel compliance if invitations are ignored.
