FCID Probes Igbo Community Leader Dr. Nnaji; Elders Advocate ADR
Detectives at the FCID Annex in Ikoyi have opened an investigation into a leadership crisis within the Lagos Igbo community. Dr. Jonathan Nnaji, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, was questioned over allegations of fraud, impersonation, and constitutional usurpation. A petition by the Council of Ndieze accuses him of acting as President General without mandate and diverting community funds into his personal account. He is also alleged to have misappropriated donated buses and published materials that fueled internal discord. Community elders have formally requested the police to pause prosecution and allow a one-month Alternative Dispute Resolution process. Both factions must submit a written ADR application and a resolution report to the FCID by the end of that period. Dr. Nnaji was granted administrative bail. All parties, their legal teams, and community leaders are scheduled to reconvene at the FCID Annex on July 30, 2026, to assess the outcome of the elders’ mediation.
