Celebrating 40 Years of Pharm. Solomon Adegboyega Afon’s Enduring Legacy

Forty years after his passing, the family of Pharm. Solomon Adegboyega Afon came together to honour his vision, integrity and service. He founded Safco Chemist Limited in 1976, at a time when structured drug supply systems were still emerging in Nigeria. Under his leadership, the company earned a reputation for reliable retail, wholesale and distribution of quality medicines. A 1973 graduate of the University of Ife, Afon was admired by peers for expanding access to essential healthcare. After his death in 1986, his son Pharm. Adebayo Afon managed Safco Chemist until its closure in 2004. Today, Afon’s children carry on his mission through Afonchies Pharmacy and Safco Mega Solutions. Family members highlight that their father’s values of service, discipline and integrity remain central to their work. They say his legacy continues to inspire a new generation of pharmacists.
