Benue SSG Honors NYA President with Tiv Name, Applauds Youth Leadership
At a youth seminar in Makurdi, Secretary to the Benue State Government Deaconess Deborah Aber praised the National Youth Alliance (NYA) as a laudable initiative. She described National President Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas as a visionary leader. During the “Birthing a New Nation” event, Aber inaugurated 121 North Central coordinators and conferred on Abbas the Tiv name “Terhemen,” meaning “Father Leads.” She reaffirmed Governor Hyacinth Alia’s commitment to youth-friendly policies and integration of young people into governance. In his address, Abbas explained that NYA was formed after the 2023 elections to promote a new Nigeria free from electoral malpractice. He emphasized the alliance’s non-partisan stance and funding by like-minded Nigerians at home and abroad, and pledged to leverage the group’s nationwide structure for youth welfare initiatives. Professor Patrick Ukase and other speakers urged young people to sustain political engagement beyond elections and demand accountability. The event ended with cultural symbolism as the NYA President was dressed in Tiv attire, highlighting unity and cultural acceptance.
