FG Declares May 27 & 28 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Kabir
The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28, 2026 as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir. The Interior Ministry issued a statement through its Permanent Secretary, saying the declaration honours the faith and heritage of millions of Nigerian Muslims observing Eid-ul-Adha. The Minister of Interior congratulated Muslim faithful in Nigeria and the diaspora, describing the festival as a time for sacrifice, obedience to God and compassion for humanity. Citizens have been urged to use the holiday period for prayers and sober reflection on the country’s peace, security and prosperity.
