EFCC Arraigns Man for Posing as Tinubu’s ICT Adviser in N25.9m Scam
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned Igoin Tokoni Peter at a federal court in Abuja on four counts. He is accused of impersonating a special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on ICT development and digital innovation. According to the commission, Peter obtained a total of N25.9 million from Dontown Assets Limited by promising to secure a cryptocurrency exchange licence. The funds passed through a Zenith Bank account linked to Smartz Skyward Energy Limited. The EFCC also alleges he defrauded Jeriod Limited of N19.8 million under similar pretences. Peter pleaded not guilty. The prosecution requested a trial date and sought to remand him at Kuje Correctional Centre. Justice Obiora Egwuatu granted bail at N400 million with two sureties. One surety must own property and reside in Abuja. The other must be a grade level 15 civil servant. The court remanded Peter to Kuje pending fulfillment of bail conditions. Trial is set for July 16, 2026.
