South African Woman Says Marriage Into a Nigerian Family Changed Her View of Nigerian Women
A South African woman says marrying into a Nigerian family changed her view of Nigerian women. She said she once believed stereotypes that Nigerian women were controlling, impatient, loud and focused only on money. Her experience with her Nigerian mother-in-law, however, was very different. She described her as loving and caring, especially during and after her pregnancy. The woman also said she met successful and kind Nigerian women in Canada, including professionals and business owners. She now believes Nigerian women are not celebrated enough.
