Kogi State Rolls Out Mass Artificial Insemination Drive to Boost Livestock Yields

The Kogi Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project has launched a five-day Mass Artificial Insemination campaign in Lokoja. Running July 20–24, the program will train livestock farmers from value-chain clusters on modern AI techniques. Officials say artificial insemination gives farmers access to superior genetics, higher milk yields, faster growth and lower disease risks. Trained technicians will support up to 1,500 cows and 500 goats using conventional and sexed semen. Plans include three new Livestock Improvement and Breeding Centres, technical services from Genedxx Nigerian Ltd and capacity-building sessions. Farmers are urged to participate and seize the chance to increase herd quality, productivity and income.
