Anthony Joshua Declines Tyson Fury Fight Offer Amid Personal Recovery

Anthony Joshua Declines Tyson Fury Fight Offer Amid Personal Recovery

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has turned down Tyson Fury’s challenge, as revealed in a recent Netflix interview. Joshua was in attendance when Fury stopped Arslanbek Makhmudov in one-sided fashion. Fury had publicly called out Joshua after his emphatic comeback win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But Joshua says he’s not ready to accept the fight right now. He explains that he is focused on rebuilding his life after a December car crash that killed his friends. Joshua insists he remains a serious fighter who “makes the big fights” and believes he could hurt Fury badly. For now, he plans to take time off to support his friends’ families and get his affairs in order before stepping back into the ring.

Fury's one-sided win over Makhmudov hardly guarantees he'd easily handle a fully fit Joshua right now.

Joshua should stick to his recovery schedule and maybe plan a tune-up fight before considering a high stakes bout with Fury.
